Bob Odenkirk says he will accept honorary degree from SIU in person

Actor Bob Odenkirk, from the critically acclaimed “Breaking Bad” and “Better Call Saul” television shows, said during an interview on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live,’ Feb. 26, that he will accept his honorary doctoral degree in person from the University. “I loved Southern Illinois University. It’s just great. It’s a beautiful part of the country … I had a blast there,” Odenkirk. “I’m gonna go (to accept the honorary degree).”
Odenkirk was a disc jokey on WIDB, the campus student-run radio station, while he attended SIUC. He graduated with a degree from the Radio and Television program in 1984.
Odenkirk was the recipient of two Primetime Emmy Awards as a writer for the Ben Stiller Show and Saturday Night Live. He also received a Screen Actor’s Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series for his role as Jimmy McGill, a corrupt attorney, in “Breaking Bad.”
