Twenty-five new COVID-19 cases in Williamson and Franklin Counties

Franklin-Williamson Bi-County Health Department reported Friday afternoon 25 new cases of COVID-19 in the Franklin-Williamson county region within the past 24 hours. Eighteen new cases have been reported in Williamson County and 7 in Franklin County.
In Franklin County:
Females: One teenager, one in their 20’s, and two in their 50’s.
Males: One teenager, one in their 30’s and one in their 60’s.
In Williamson County:
Females: One child, two teenagers, three in their 20’s, one in their 30’s, one in their 40’s, one in their 50’s and one in their 60’s.
Males: One in their 20’s, two in their 30’s, one in their 40’s, three in their 50’s, and one in their 70’s.
The individuals are believed to have acquired the disease through either local contact with known cases, healthcare exposure or through transmission in the community (i.e. unable to trace back to a known source).
To date, there have been a total of 243 laboratory confirmed positives in Williamson county and 93 laboratory confirmed positives in Franklin county, including 4 deaths in Williamson county related to COVID-19. Of the positive cases, 150 have recovered in Williamson county and 45 have recovered in Franklin county.
According to the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), as of July 24, 2020 there are 1532 new cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Illinois, including 19 additional deaths.
COVID-19 shares many symptoms with more common respiratory diseases. Those 60 and older are known to experience different symptoms.
